Sharing Achievements in Conservation Science on the 20th Anniversary of the Museum's Opening
The National Palace Museum of Korea announced on May 14 that it will co-host the 61st Spring Academic Conference with the Korean Society of Conservation Science for Cultural Heritage at the museum in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on May 16. Marking the 20th anniversary of its opening, the museum will share its achievements in conservation science. An official stated, "We hope that the research outcomes in conservation science, including conservation treatment, analytical studies, and restoration and replication, will become widely known."

The conference will begin with a keynote lecture by Jung Soyoung, head of the Department of Artifact Science at the National Palace Museum of Korea, who played a significant role in the restoration of the Gyeongbokgung Palace wall that was damaged by a spray graffiti attack in 2023. Subsequent presentations will cover the museum's research achievements in conservation science, official development assistance (ODA) projects currently being carried out overseas by the National Heritage Administration and the National Heritage Center, and digital cultural heritage technologies. Research outcomes related to the conservation treatment of modern and contemporary cultural heritage will also be discussed.
