This visit was intended to review the data-driven, precise weather forecasting system and to strengthen the nation's proactive disaster prevention and response capabilities, in light of the increasing likelihood of strong typhoons and the growing difficulty of forecasting them due to climate change.
Lee commended the staff of the National Typhoon Center, stating, "The dedication of the employees working under challenging conditions serves as a breakwater that protects the lives and property of the people."
