According to Hampyeong County on May 14, the county inspected the Hampyeong Expo Park Edutainment Park construction site on May 13 to gather a wide range of opinions from public officials and residents. The Edutainment Park is scheduled to open in April 2026.
The county was selected for the "Jeonnam-type Regional Growth Strategy Project" contest hosted by Jeonnam Province in 2022. With a total budget of 13.5 billion won, including 5 billion won from the province and 8.5 billion won from the county, the county has been constructing the Edutainment Park in the Hampyeong Expo Park area since December last year.
The Edutainment Park is being developed as a complex space that combines ecological education with hands-on entertainment, centered around four indoor themed experience centers: the Mysterious Butterfly Forest, Butterfly Art Workshop, Flower Stem Butterfly Village, and Flapping Research Lab.
Outdoors, the county plans to create family experience spaces and adventure play facilities that combine ecology and art, and to operate a variety of educational content themed around insects.
At the site inspection, Lee Sangik, Mayor of Hampyeong County, stated, "We will develop the Edutainment Park as a hands-on educational space where children can nurture their imagination and creativity in nature," and added, "We will do our best to make this a representative tourist attraction of Hampyeong County by integrating edutainment content with local resources."
