Geumcheon-gu Selected as Top District in Seoul Autonomous District Companion Center Operation Evaluation
Received high marks in 20 indicators across 9 items in 3 categories, including welfare and health
Yoo Seonghun, District Mayor: "Our proactive efforts to address residents' difficulties have been recognized"
Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yoo Seonghun) announced on May 14 that it was selected as the top district in the '2024 Seoul Autonomous District Companion Center Operation Performance Evaluation.'
Since 2023, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has reorganized local community centers into Companion Centers and has been conducting evaluations of 25 autonomous districts to strengthen their capabilities and ensure the successful implementation of projects.
This evaluation was based on three areas?overall management, welfare, and health?covering projects implemented over a total of 12 months from January 1 to December 31 of last year.
In the overall management category, the district received high marks for the number of welfare consultations per person, welfare official training, and staff placement performance. In the welfare category, the district was recognized for its independent implementation of outstanding Companion Center projects, efforts to identify welfare blind spots, monitoring of welfare recipients, implementation of the Seoul-type Basic Security Program, and the establishment of integrated case management and collaboration systems. In the health category, the district scored highly for health screening initiatives and ICT-based health management programs.
The district explained that this recognition was the result of its proactive efforts to address residents' difficulties. In practice, Geumcheon-gu has strengthened integrated welfare consultations, conducted surveys to identify welfare blind spots, enhanced monitoring of welfare recipients, and bolstered customized services for residents such as Care SOS. The district also established at least one safety net for high-risk groups, such as low-income, middle-aged single-person households, through meal delivery programs, and provided AI speakers, which were used to rescue a resident who had collapsed due to chronic hypoglycemia.
