This competition was held for 26 street tree management organizations within Seoul (25 autonomous districts and the Jungbu Park Leisure Center). By winning the Excellence Award for the second consecutive year, Gwangjin District once again demonstrated its systematic and consistent tree management capabilities.
The evaluation process involved selecting one route each from sections interfering with high-voltage power lines and from general sections, with both a document review and an on-site assessment. The evaluation was based on various criteria, including tree form, harmony with the surrounding landscape, aesthetics, compliance with regulations, and general management standards.
The district submitted the Cheonho-daero and Gwangnaru-ro sections for evaluation. In these areas, the district received high marks for customized pruning that considered both tree growth and urban aesthetics, operations that prioritized the safety of both power lines and pedestrians, and the cleaning and maintenance of surrounding facilities after pruning.
Because street tree pruning involves high-risk tasks using equipment such as saws and aerial work vehicles, the district systematically managed the entire process through thorough on-site supervision, ensuring worker safety, and monitoring changes in tree form before and after the work.
