Gyeonggi Province Conducts Safety Inspections of Flood-Prone Facilities, Identifies 264 Issues
Gyeonggi Province conducted safety inspections of facilities at risk of flooding in preparation for heavy rainfall during the summer, identifying a total of 264 issues.
This safety inspection was carried out jointly by the public and private sectors from April 2 to April 28, targeting 51 vulnerable facilities such as underground shopping centers, bridges, and cut slopes, in order to prevent flood damage caused by heavy rainfall.
The main issues identified in the architectural sector included underground concrete leakage and cracks, lack of waterproofing facilities, and tilting of small retaining walls. In the civil engineering sector, problems included corrosion of bridge bearings, damage to bridge deck pavement, and lack of maintenance of drainage facilities.

View original imageGyeonggi Province immediately addressed 14 minor issues on-site, such as fallen banners, and requested the responsible parties to promptly correct 86 issues, including retaining walls at risk of collapse. In addition, the province recommended improvements for the remaining 164 issues.

Gyeonggi Province has notified each city and county of the identified issues and will encourage them to complete follow-up measures by the end of this month. The province also plans to continuously monitor the implementation of these measures.
