OSS is a platform that allows promising startups with innovative battery-related technologies from around the world to propose 'strategic collaborations' with LG Energy Solution at any time. Through this program, startups can submit technology proposals, and after thorough review and technical evaluation, LG Energy Solution offers opportunities for long-term partnerships, such as joint research and development or equity investment.
The program is conducted in two categories: Need-Based and Open Topic. Any entity with core battery-related technologies can participate. Starting from the second half of this year, publicly listed companies, not just startups, will also be eligible to apply.
The Need-Based category accepts applications in six areas: materials, cells, cell processes, packs, battery management systems (BMS), and systems, and will be open until June 30. The Open Topic category accepts innovative ideas for technological collaboration in any area without restrictions and will be available year-round with no deadline.
Kim Jea-young, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Executive Vice President of LG Energy Solution, stated, "Open innovation is a key strategy for realizing innovative technologies and ideas," adding, "We will continue to lead the future of the battery industry through collaboration with a wide range of external partners."
