Kickoff Meeting Held for Development Plan Establishment Project
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is taking concrete steps to establish sustainable development measures for its local fishing villages and fisheries industry.

View original imageOn May 8, Hwaseong City announced that it held a kickoff meeting for the "Fisheries and Fishing Village Development Plan Establishment Project" at the Seosin-myeon Administrative Welfare Center.
This project aims to set the basic direction and goals of "Hwaseong City Marine and Fisheries Vision 2030" by analyzing domestic and international policy trends, as well as internal and external environmental changes affecting the local fisheries industry and fishing villages. It will reflect the unique characteristics of each sector and region, including fishing, aquaculture, fishing village experiences, and recreational fishing.
The project will be carried out by the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Induk University through a negotiated contract method, and is scheduled to be completed by January next year. Through this project, the city also plans to establish a detailed development roadmap, including a five-year implementation strategy and plans for investment and financing.

Park Byungnam, head of Hwaseong City's Marine and Fisheries Division, said, "This project will serve as an opportunity to address various challenges facing the fisheries industry and fishing villages, such as the climate crisis, and to lead sustainable growth." He added, "We will actively gather residents' opinions throughout the entire process to establish a practical and effective plan."
