Chungnam Province Accepting Applications for Additional Intangible Cultural Heritage Designations
Applications Open for Holders of Buddhist Painting and Stone Engraving Heritage
from June 11 to 13
On May 8, the Chungnam Provincial Government announced that it will accept applications for new holders of intangible cultural heritage from June 11 to 13, as part of efforts to designate new items to the province's list of intangible cultural heritage.
The province has so far designated 57 items as Chungnam Intangible Cultural Heritage, focusing on technical and artistic fields that clearly reflect the historical significance and identity of Chungnam and have been passed down through many generations.
This year's additional designations will cover two categories: Buddhist painting and stone engraving. Anyone who meets the required qualifications and possesses the necessary skills may apply.
The province plans to recruit skilled intangible heritage holders through an open call and will ensure fairness and objectivity throughout the designation process.
An expert investigation team will conduct preliminary research and skill assessments for applicants, after which the Chungnam Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee will review the results and issue a preliminary notice of recognition for prospective holders.
A provincial official stated, "We will continue to pursue various policy support measures to preserve our intangible heritage and pass it on to future generations."
