This event served as the first step toward realizing a Basic Society within the local community and also as a rallying point to unite local sentiment ahead of the 21st presidential election scheduled for June 3. About 1,000 people attended the launch ceremony, including the heads of Haenam, Wando, and Jindo counties, provincial council members, county council members, and representatives of civil society. Their participation demonstrated strong interest in and commitment to the Democratic Party of Korea's core policy of 'Basic Society.'

In particular, Deputy Director Choi Hyukjin, who delivered the special lecture, emphasized that "Basic Society is the embodiment of the Democratic Party's philosophy and practice. He added, "Haenam, Wando, and Jindo will lead the way in fostering the enthusiasm for a Basic Society?one that pursues both 'Meoksanism' and 'Jalsanism,' meaning a society where people eat well and live well?and will drive the change of government."
The Basic Social Committee is chaired by former party leader Lee Jaemyung and is focused on three main principles: "Basic Society is Democracy," "Basic Society is Growth," and "Basic Society is Welfare." The committee aims to address social polarization and inequality, and to establish systems to respond to changes in climate, technology, and demographics.
This launch ceremony was more than just a formal event; it is expected to be remembered as a declaration of the strong determination of the Haenam, Wando, and Jindo regions to take the lead in realizing a Basic Society.
