No Price Gouging, Yes to Eco-Friendliness... Festival Operations Receive Praise
The 37th Yeoju Ceramic Festival is drawing enthusiastic attention, with numerous citizens and tourists visiting despite the continuous spring rain.
This year’s festival is taking place around the Silleuksa Tourist Site in Yeoju, offering a vibrant array of programs such as ceramic workshops and exhibitions, diverse performances, and nighttime content, all adding a colorful touch to Yeoju’s spring.
The Yeoju Sejong Cultural Tourism Foundation, which is organizing the festival, placed particular emphasis on ensuring quality and reasonable prices at the food booths by conducting a thorough pre-screening process. During the selection of booth operators, menus and price lists were submitted and reviewed together, promoting transparent management to achieve a “festival free of price gouging.”
Eco-friendly measures to reduce food waste are also noteworthy. Some booths are minimizing the provision of side dishes and have introduced or are considering a self-service system that allows customers to take only the amount they want. On-site, practical improvements such as meal portion adjustments are also being discussed to enhance visitor convenience.
Lee Sunyeol, President of the Yeoju Sejong Cultural Tourism Foundation, stated, “The Yeoju Ceramic Festival is a representative cultural tourism event of Yeoju. We will continue to listen to citizens’ voices and strive to elevate the quality of local festivals.” He added, “We will respond promptly to any inconveniences that may arise on-site, and actively incorporate collected feedback into future festival operations.”
