Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Korea moved to process an unexpected impeachment motion against Choi Sangmok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, at the plenary session of the National Assembly the previous day. The Democratic Party adopted an impeachment investigation report on Deputy Prime Minister Choi at the full session of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, then went through a procedure to change the legislative schedule and submitted the impeachment motion to the plenary session. In protest, the People Power Party walked out of the plenary chamber. However, just before the impeachment motion was introduced, Deputy Prime Minister Choi expressed his intention to resign, and Acting President and Prime Minister Han Ducksoo immediately accepted his resignation, so the impeachment vote did not take place.
