Combining Education, Welfare, and Culture
On May 2, Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has been selected for the "2025 Lifelong Learning Opportunity Special Zone Support Project" promoted by Gyeonggi Province.
This project is an initiative by Gyeonggi Province targeting its 31 cities and counties, aiming to discover and support lifelong learning models that reflect the unique characteristics of each region. The core objective is to establish a regionally tailored lifelong education system in order to address complex social issues such as aging, low birth rates, regional imbalance, and climate change.
Osan City applied for and was selected in Type 1, where a single basic local government serves as the center. The city plans to establish an integrated learning ecosystem encompassing education, welfare, and culture, under the vision of "Osan, a Centennial Learning City Connecting People and Resources." In addition, the city intends to strengthen the "Local-Industry-Academia Governance" by fostering cooperation among local governments, industries, and universities, and to organically connect local resources so that all citizens can easily participate in lifelong learning.
