GH to Establish 'Carbon-Neutral Forest' in Kyrgyzstan
Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) will establish a 'carbon-neutral forest' in Kyrgyzstan.
This project marks GH's first international development cooperation initiative since its founding. The project, which Gyeonggi Province has been implementing in phases through private outsourcing since 2021, will now be carried out by GH under a public institution consignment system.
The project site is the E. Gareev Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences, located in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. At this site, GH will undertake the following activities: renovation of the 'Gyeonggi-do Peace Garden,' establishment of a nursery, planting of saplings for the carbon-neutral forest, and educational programs to strengthen carbon neutrality capacity.
Through this project, GH expects to disseminate Gyeonggi Province's climate change response policies to developing countries and to promote international cooperation for achieving carbon neutrality.
