Traditional Ferry Rides, Water Play, and Hands-On Activities Await
Food, Performances, and Photo Zones Make It the Perfect Family Getaway
To celebrate the Children's Day golden holiday, a simple yet heartwarming village festival will be held in Hwangryong-myeon, Jangseong County, South Jeolla Province.
The festival, affectionately named the Hwangryonggang Boat Festival, will take place on May 4 and 5 near the Second Hwangryonggyo Bridge along the Hwangryonggang River. Hosted by Hwangryong-myeon in Jangseong County, this local village festival features a variety of hands-on activities, performances, food, and exhibitions, all set against the backdrop of the river.

From 4:30 p.m., there will be a pre-ceremony performance, an opening ceremony, and a concert to officially kick off the festival.
The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the ferry boat experience. Riding an actual ferry across the Hwangryonggang River offers a tranquil atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time to the days of black-and-white photographs. Inspired by an old ferry dock that once existed in Hwangryong-myeon, this experience evokes nostalgia not only for children but also for adults.

Children can enjoy experiences such as catching fish with a dip net, playing in an air bounce playground, interacting with parrots, and taking instant photos, among many other fun activities.
Food is also an important part of the festival. There will be a food tavern run by the village women's association, food trucks, and a local agricultural products market, all of which will accept the Munhwa Nuri Card.
There will also be an exhibition space dedicated to art. Visitors can enjoy a vintage photo exhibition, as well as works by local artists in calligraphy, leather crafts, and traditional Korean paper ceramics.
