'Indie Gamers' is a new program planned through the Daejeon Game Industry Academia-Industry Council. The program aims to strengthen the capabilities of Daejeon's game workforce by supporting the operation of game development clubs at four local universities.
The launching ceremony will be attended by about 70 team members and faculty from 12 clubs, including Mokwon University Department of Game Software Engineering, Paichai University Department of Game Engineering and Department of Game Animation, Woosong University Department of Game Multimedia, and Hanbat National University Department of Computer Engineering.
For the '2025 Indie (inD) Gamers' program, representatives from Daejeon-based game companies will participate as mentors for students. Over a period of seven months, they will nurture the clubs, provide students with opportunities for team projects, and offer close support so that students can gain a variety of experiences by participating in contests and exhibitions.
Lee Eunhak, President of the Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, stated, "Through this program, we expect that students from each club will enhance their game planning and development capabilities, laying the foundation for them to grow into core game talents in Daejeon."
