This site visit was organized to review the progress of the project in Hwasun County and to discuss measures to prevent potential issues that may arise during its implementation.
Participants at the site included members of the Environment and Welfare Committee of the Gwangju City Council, officials from the Gwangju Waterworks Headquarters, and officials from Hwasun County. Hwasun County aimed to discuss the specific plans for the project and the respective roles of Gwangju City and Hwasun County during the implementation process. Given that the Jeokbyeok area is managed as a water source protection zone, the Environment and Welfare Committee closely examined whether the development of various facilities could potentially contaminate the drinking water for Gwangju citizens.
Choi Ji-hyun, Chair of the Environment and Welfare Committee, stated, "Based on the opinions discussed during this site visit, we will continue to consult with the goal of ensuring that the management of the Dongbok Water Source aligns with the mutual interests of both Gwangju citizens and Hwasun County residents, and that sustainable management and co-prosperity can be achieved."
