Daejeon Selects 13 Companies as "2025 Global IP Star Companies"
Support for Overseas Expansion Based on Intellectual Property
Up to 70 Million KRW Annually for Three Years
The Daejeon Metropolitan Government announced on April 29 that it held the "2025 Global IP Star Company Designation Ceremony" at the Daedeok Tech Biz Center, in partnership with the Daejeon Intellectual Property Center, and newly selected 13 promising local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The "Global IP Star Company Development Project" is a program that provides customized overseas expansion support based on intellectual property (IP) for up to three years, with an annual limit of 70 million KRW, targeting SMEs with export records or plans to export.
This year, the city conducted a first-round spectrum diagnosis and company due diligence, followed by a second-round presentation evaluation, to assess each company's intellectual property capabilities and global growth potential, ultimately selecting 13 companies.
The selected companies will receive programs including: ▲ customized intellectual property consulting ▲ overseas IP rights acquisition support ▲ patent and design map creation ▲ brand and design development ▲ production of promotional videos for patented technologies.
In addition, the city plans to provide continued support for up to three years through annual evaluations, systematically assisting with IP creation, securing rights, and strategic utilization to help strengthen global market competitiveness.
Previously, 52 companies supported through the same project last year achieved notable results, with employment increasing by 23.5% and the number of intellectual property holdings rising by 24.8% compared to before receiving support.
Choi Wonhyeok, Director of the Daejeon City Business Support Bureau, stated, "Securing intellectual property rights to protect technology is essential for sustainable growth in the fiercely competitive global market," adding, "We will continue to expand customized support so that local SMEs can reach out to the world based on intellectual property."
