Sunchang County Raises Purchase and Accumulation Limits for "Local Love Gift Certificates"
Extended Through Next Month... Boosting the Local Economy
Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province will temporarily raise the purchase and accumulation limits for the Sunchang Love Gift Certificate throughout May.
According to the county on April 29, this increase in the gift certificate purchase limit has been implemented to celebrate Family Month, aiming to revitalize the local economy and ease the financial burden on residents. The monthly purchase limit will be raised from 700,000 won to 1,000,000 won, and the accumulation limit will be increased from 70,000 won to 100,000 won.
Through this measure, the county expects to reduce the economic burden on households and stimulate local consumption. However, this increase applies only to mobile and card-type gift certificates; paper gift certificates are no longer available as they have all been sold out.
Gift certificates can be purchased via the "Local Love Gift Certificate (CHAK)" app for mobile types, while card-type certificates can be issued at local branches of Nonghyup, the post office, credit unions, and Saemaeul Geumgo.
Starting May 1, the county will lower the minimum age for membership registration and purchase of mobile Sunchang Love Gift Certificates from 19 to 14 years old. As a result, teenagers aged 14 and older, who were previously only allowed to register as members, will now be able to purchase gift certificates by linking their own bank accounts. The county expects this measure to help reduce the financial burden on households with student children and to further promote the use of local gift certificates.
Choi Youngil, the county governor, stated, "We hope that this increase in the local love gift certificate limits, implemented in celebration of Family Month, will help ease the financial burden on residents and revitalize the local economy," adding, "We expect this to provide practical assistance to residents struggling with rising prices."
Meanwhile, the county will continuously monitor purchase and exchange records through the integrated gift certificate management system, and plans to strictly respond to illegal distribution by strengthening on-site inspections of affiliated stores suspected of fraudulent transactions or excessive exchanges.
