Coupang Chairman Kim Beomseok Received 3 Billion Won in Compensation Last Year... CEO Kang Hansung Received 6.9 Billion Won

It has been revealed that Kim Beomseok, the chairman of Coupang, which achieved annual sales of 40 trillion won last year, received compensation of approximately 3 billion won. CEO Kang Hansung received compensation of 6.9 billion won.
According to disclosure materials submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) by Coupang Inc., the parent company of Coupang, on April 29, CEO Kang Hansung received compensation totaling 4,795,000 dollars (approximately 6.9 billion won) last year. This represents an increase of 55.9% compared to the previous year (3,075,000 dollars).
Kang's base salary decreased by 4.3%, from 766,000 dollars in 2023 to 733,000 dollars, and his bonus dropped by 67.6%, from 1,133,000 dollars to 366,000 dollars. However, his stock compensation surged from 989,000 dollars to 3,562,000 dollars, resulting in an overall increase in his annual compensation.
Gaurav Anand, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in charge of finance, received compensation of 10,287,000 dollars (approximately 14.8 billion won) last year, about four times higher than the previous year (2,516,000 dollars). He was the highest-paid among key executives.
Kim Beomseok, founder and chairman of Coupang, received compensation of 2,071,000 dollars (approximately 3 billion won) last year. This amount increased by about 20% compared to the previous year (1,730,000 dollars).
Since 2022, Chairman Kim has received a base salary of 1,100,000 dollars for three consecutive years, as well as an additional 970,000 dollars for housing and transportation expenses, but has not received any bonuses or stock compensation.
Meanwhile, Coupang Inc. recorded sales of 41.291 trillion won and operating profit of 602.3 billion won last year. Coupang is the first distribution company operating in Korea to achieve annual sales of 40 trillion won.

There are projections that Coupang's sales will grow by around 20% this year. If the target is achieved, annual sales are expected to reach 50 trillion won.
