On April 25, the province announced that it held a kickoff meeting for the feasibility study on the establishment of the Chungnam-type plastic circular economy cluster in a small conference room at the provincial government office. The meeting was attended by Kim Youngmyung, Director of Environment and Forest Affairs for the province, as well as more than 20 experts in resource circulation and carbon neutrality.
Following the kickoff meeting, the province plans to form a "resource circulation council" composed of local governments, companies, experts, and field stakeholders. Through this council, the province will operate forums on key issues and topics, thereby increasing the feasibility of realizing a plastic circular economy ecosystem.
Once the Chungnam-type plastic circular economy cluster is established, it is expected to create a circular economy ecosystem that considers the entire plastic life cycle, including the establishment of recycled material supply chains for companies and the fostering of the recycling industry. This initiative is anticipated not only to protect the environment, but also to create new jobs and revitalize the local and industrial economy by generating economic value.
Kim Youngmyung, Director of Environment and Forest Affairs for the province, stated, "Building a plastic circular economy ecosystem will play a crucial role not only in solving short-term environmental issues but also in securing long-term sustainability."
