Guro District Holds Lantern Lighting Ceremony to Celebrate Buddha's Birthday
Lotus Lanterns Installed at District Office Plaza Until May 11
Guro District (District Mayor Jang Inhong) held a lantern lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. on April 24 at the district office plaza to celebrate Buddha's Birthday in the Buddhist Era 2569.
The event was organized by the Guro District Office Buddhist Association and Myeonghwasa Temple, with approximately 50 participants in attendance, including District Mayor Jang Inhong, the chief monk of Myeonghwasa Temple, and members of the Buddhist Association.
The ceremony began with the Threefold Refuge ritual and the recitation of the Heart Sutra, followed by the introduction of guests, a congratulatory speech by the district mayor, the reading of a prayer, and the Four Great Vows. Myeonghwasa Temple also donated rice to help neighbors in need, putting into practice the compassion of Buddha and making the event even more meaningful.
