Police Conduct Search and Seizure of POSCO E&C and Others Over Sinansan Line Collapse
The police investigating the collapse accident at the Sinansan Line underground tunnel construction site in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, have launched a compulsory investigation into the construction company, POSCO E&C, and others.

View original imageThe dedicated investigation team for the Sinansan Line construction site collapse at the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency announced that starting around 9:00 a.m. on the 25th, they have been conducting search and seizure operations at nine locations, including the headquarters and site office of POSCO E&C, the construction supervisor’s office, and seven other companies, in cooperation with the Seongnam Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
About 60 police investigators and labor inspectors from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, totaling approximately 90 personnel, were mobilized for this search and seizure. They plan to examine the causes of the tunnel collapse and whether safety regulations were followed.

The accident occurred at around 3:13 p.m. on the 11th at the Section 5-2 site of the Sinansan Line double-track railway in Iljik-dong, Gwangmyeong, when the underground tunnel under construction by POSCO E&C and the road above it collapsed. One POSCO E&C worker died, and an excavator operator from a subcontractor was seriously injured. The deceased worker had been missing for about 125 hours and was found dead at a depth of 21 meters underground at 8:11 p.m. on the 16th.
