"Safe Walking and Driving Come First" ... Changwon Special City Intensifies Traffic Safety Promotion
Stop, Look, and Cross
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province is intensively promoting a 'Pedestrian and Driver Traffic Safety Campaign' to strengthen traffic safety, as vehicle traffic increases and outdoor activities become more frequent in the spring.
This campaign focuses on raising awareness among pedestrians and drivers to prevent traffic accidents. The main points include: looking around before crossing the road; not jaywalking; not using smart devices while walking; observing stop lines at crosswalks; using turn signals; and not using smart devices while driving. These safety rules for pedestrians and drivers are being produced as card news and published on the city website, social media, and the bus information system. The campaign is also being promoted both online and offline in cooperation with relevant organizations.
In addition, the city is implementing various traffic safety initiatives in cooperation with the police station, the office of education, and related organizations. These include region-specific on-site traffic safety education, joint public-private campaigns, and TBN traffic broadcasting.
Lee Jonggeun, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, stated, "Both drivers and pedestrians need to pay attention and take action to create a safe traffic environment," and added, "We will continue to implement effective traffic safety measures to spread a culture of traffic safety, always prioritizing the safety of our citizens."
