Gyeonggi Office of Education Holds Workshop for Officers in Education Development Special Zone Pilot Areas on April 24
On April 24, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held a workshop for officers to enhance the efficient operation and substance of the Education Development Special Zone project.
The Office of Education announced that the workshop was held at the Gyeonggi Institute of Educational Research on the same day, with more than 70 participants, including heads of departments from city and county governments in the 2025 Gyeonggi-do Education Development Special Zone pilot areas and officers from local education support offices.
This workshop was organized to improve the officers' understanding of the project and strengthen their competencies, especially in light of this year's personnel changes at each institution. The program included: a special lecture by experts (Understanding and Future Direction of the Education Development Special Zone Project by Professor Jeon Jesang of Gongju National University of Education, and Performance Management Strategy by Professor Heo Ju of Gongju National University of Education); presentations on the current status and unique projects of each pilot area; and a session to share challenges encountered during operations and explore possible solutions.
In particular, during the session introducing the current status and unique projects of each pilot area, participants showed great interest as distinctive regional cases were shared.

Meanwhile, to ensure the successful operation of the Education Development Special Zone this year, the Office of Education is organizing and operating tailored strategic consulting teams for each pilot area. Through this initiative, the Office plans to actively support the establishment of a robust performance management system and the implementation of education innovation models that reflect regional characteristics at the field level.
