Gwangsan District in Gwangju to Subsidize Installation of Food Waste Reduction Machines
Subsidies of Up to 7 Million Won for Large-Scale Waste-Generating Businesses
Applications Accepted Until May 12
Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced on April 24 that it will support the installation of food waste reduction machines at large-scale waste-generating businesses in an effort to reduce food waste.
The district will subsidize 50% of the purchase cost, up to a maximum of 7 million won, for food waste reduction machines that have received quality certification. Using these machines can reduce food waste output by up to 80%. However, kitchen waste disposers are excluded from this support program.
Eligible recipients are large-scale waste-generating businesses as defined by the Waste Management Act, including group cafeterias serving an average of 100 or more people per day and restaurants with a floor area of 200 square meters or more.
Applications are open until May 12. For more details, applicants can refer to the announcement on the district office website or contact the Cleaning Administration Division. A district official stated, "Efforts to reduce waste at the source are important," and added, "We look forward to the active participation of eligible businesses."
