Muan County Selected as Top Institution in Fishing Village and Port Regeneration Project

Muan County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim San) announced on April 23 that it had achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as the top institution in the 2025 evaluation of the Fishing Village and Fishing Port Regeneration Project, organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
This evaluation comprehensively reviewed the annual project performance and outstanding cases of 73 metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide that implemented the Fishing Village New Deal 300 and the Fishing Village New Vitality Promotion Project over the past year.

View original imageOver the four years from 2021 to 2024, the county invested a total project budget of 34.8 billion KRW in six locations, building new fishermen's waiting rooms and improving basic infrastructure such as wharves and breakwaters. These efforts to create a safe and vibrant fishing village environment were highly praised.
Governor Kim San stated, "We will continue to conduct research to improve the living conditions of fishermen and create a convenient fishing environment, aiming to make fishing villages attractive for young people to return. Through the active promotion of fishing village projects, we will achieve tangible results in increasing fishermen's incomes."
