Sangwook Kim Appointed as Director of the National Asia Culture Center
On April 21, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed Sangwook Kim, the acting director, as the second Director of the National Asia Culture Center. His term will last for three years, until April 20, 2028. Kim has been serving as the acting director since February, following the end of the term of the previous director, Kanghyun Lee.
Kim, a graduate of the Department of Public Administration at Yonsei University, passed the 34th Higher Civil Service Examination in 1991. He has held various positions at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, including Director of Arts Policy, Director of Content Policy, and Director of Tourism Industry Policy, and previously served as Director of Planning and Operations at the National Asia Culture Center.
He holds a master's degree in Arts Administration from Indiana University in the United States and a doctorate in Cultural Contents from Dongguk University. His publications include "Policies for the Cultural Contents Industry and the Creative Industry" and "The Cultural Contents Industry in the Fourth Industrial Revolution Era."
