The fundraising campaign, held from April 3 to April 17, was launched under the slogan "Returning the Kindness We Received with a Helping Hand of Sharing," as a way to repay the nationwide support received during the large-scale wildfire that occurred in Seobu-myeon, Hongseong County in 2023.
A total of 194 organizations, associations, companies, and local residents participated in the county-wide fundraising effort.
In particular, the public officials of the county government led the fundraising campaign, inspiring various organizations and residents to join in, which has been credited with turning small acts of kindness into a remarkable outcome.
The representative of a business that participated in the fundraising said, "I have always remembered the gratitude we felt for the support received from all over the country in 2023," adding, "I joined the fundraising campaign to share, even if only a little, the appreciation we felt at that time."
A representative from the Seobu-myeon Council of Institutional Leaders also commented, "When Seobu-myeon suffered significant damage from the wildfire, we received warm support from across the country. The entire council participated with a united heart to repay that kindness."
An official from the county government stated, "We are deeply grateful to the residents for actively participating in this fundraising campaign with a spirit of gratitude and repayment. We sincerely hope for the swift recovery of daily life for the residents of the Yeongnam region who have suffered physically and emotionally from the wildfires."
