Sunchang County Accepting Applications for 'Forestry Direct Payment' Until the 30th
"Supporting Income Stability and Forest Management for Forestry Workers"
With the application deadline for the 2025 forestry direct payment approaching on the 30th, Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province has urged local forestry workers to actively apply and participate.
According to the county on the 21st, the forestry direct payment system is designed to support income stability for forestry workers and promote sustainable forest management. Direct payments are provided to forestry workers who meet certain requirements and fulfill their obligations in forest lands registered as forestry management entities between April 1, 2019, and September 30, 2022.
Over the past three years, the county has paid direct payments to 631 recipients totaling approximately 1.09 billion won in 2022, 629 recipients totaling approximately 1.08 billion won in 2023, and 623 recipients totaling approximately 1.1 billion won in 2024.

View original imageForestry workers wishing to apply for the direct payment should visit the administrative welfare center in the town or township where the forest land is located and submit the application form along with the required documents.
Detailed information can be found in the announcements on the Korea Forest Service and Sunchang County websites. In addition, the county's forestry department, local administrative welfare centers, and forestry cooperatives offer detailed counseling and guidance. In particular, the Korea Forest Service operates a year-round telephone consultation center to assist forestry workers with any questions they may have regarding the direct payment system.
A county official stated, "To ensure that no eligible forestry worker is left out of the support, we urge everyone to carefully check the qualification requirements and necessary documents, and to apply before the 30th. We will continue to do our best to improve the system so that forestry workers can receive practical assistance."
