Selection of Korea's Representative Creators for the WCG Festival Finals
The city of Busan (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (President Kim Taeyeol), together with the comprehensive esports company Bigpicture Interactive (CEO Song Kwangjoon), will host the finals of the 'WCG 2025 National Showdown Korea Creator Rumble Busan' at the Busan Esports Arena this August.
'National Showdown Korea' is an event co-hosted by the city of Busan and Bigpicture Interactive, and sponsored by Smilegate. A total of 40 popular domestic creators will participate in 'Creator Rumble,' a board game-style competition developed in-house by WCG.
'Creator Rumble,' which will be held both online and offline, features teams of four creators each. The teams complete various games and missions, then use the dice they have earned to advance on the board. The team that reaches the final space first is declared the winner.
The offline finals at the Busan Esports Arena will not only allow spectators to watch the 'National Showdown Korea' finals, but will also feature interactive event booths for visitors, further heating up the atmosphere on site. For fans who cannot attend in person, a live broadcast and online events will also be provided.
Smilegate will participate in WCG 2025 as a founding sponsor, and official partner companies are currently being recruited. In particular, STOVE, the global social platform operated by Smilegate, will serve as the official community platform for WCG 2025, creating a space for communication among users worldwide. Starting in June, a variety of events will be held on STOVE in collaboration with WCG.
Kim Taeyeol, President of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, stated, "After successfully hosting the newly revamped 'WCG 2023' event in Busan, we are delighted to once again present the 'WCG 2025 National Showdown Korea,' where Korea's top creators will compete at the Busan Esports Arena." He added, "We are considering various ways to experience and enjoy esports in new ways, and we will spare no effort to ensure that this event provides an enjoyable experience through esports."
Min Kyungjoon, Head of WCG, said, "Based on the success of 'Creator Rumble,' which was introduced for the first time last year, we decided to expand the competition to be held by country this year." He added, "We are very pleased to unveil the upgraded, new 'Creator Rumble' for the first time in Busan."
'Creator Rumble' was first introduced at the 'WCG 2024 Festival' in Jakarta, Indonesia last year, where 60 global creators competed fiercely for a total prize pool of 60 million KRW. The Korean creator team led by Tester Hoon ultimately took first place in the tournament.
