Dongjak District to Host 'Special Cultural Day' Week Events Starting April 23
Performances, Lectures, and Films Throughout the Neighborhood
Dongjak District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Ilha) will present a variety of events from April 23 to 30 to celebrate the April week of 'Special Cultural Day in Dongjak' (Dong·Teuk·Mun).
Dong·Teuk·Mun is a specialized cultural policy of the district, organized by the Dongjak Cultural Foundation since April last year. It is held in conjunction with 'Culture Day' on the last Wednesday of each month and offers performances, lectures, and films.
On April 25 at 5:30 p.m., 'Dongjak Art Live' busking will take place at the stage near Exit 12 of Isu Station, where visitors can enjoy both popular and traditional music in one place.
On April 24 at 2:00 p.m., Professor Kwak Geumjoo of Seoul National University's Department of Psychology will give a lecture on 'Developing Psychological Success Capital for Children' at the Kim Youngsam Public Library, sharing communication tips for parents and children. On April 25 at 7:00 p.m., Lee Jungmo, former director of the National Gwacheon Science Museum, will deliver a science humanities lecture titled 'Seeing the World Through the Eyes of Science' at Sadang Solbat Library. Registration for the lectures is available on the Dongjak District Integrated Library website, but currently only waitlist registration is possible.
At the Sayuksin History Museum, films will be screened at 2:00 p.m. on April 23, 26, and 30: '30 Days', 'Suzume', and 'Escape from Mogadishu'. No advance registration is required, and visitors can attend on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. 'Happy Feet', to be screened at 2:00 p.m. on April 26 at Dongjak English Maru Library, requires advance registration through the Integrated Library website, also on a first-come, first-served basis.
Meanwhile, at 1:00 p.m. on April 23, the first recording of season 4 of the trot music program 'Gayo Is Good', hosted by the Korea Broadcasting Singers Union, will take place at the main auditorium of the Dongjak Culture and Welfare Center. Popular singers, including Kang Jin, will perform, and district residents can enter for free from 12:00 p.m. on the day of the event.

Park Ilha, the district mayor, stated, "We have prepared a variety of events for the April 'Dong·Teuk·Mun' week so that residents can experience culture in their daily lives," and added, "I hope many people will enjoy a special spring day through the lectures and performances."
