LG Group Replaces U.S. External Affairs Chief Amid 'Tariff Bomb' Concerns, Recruits Former KITA Executive
Washington Office Appoints Hwang Sangyeon as New Chief
LG Group has reorganized its U.S. external affairs team and strengthened its trade response in line with the launch of the second Donald Trump administration in the United States.
According to industry sources on April 18, LG Group appointed Hwang Sangyeon as the new head of its Washington office at the beginning of the year. He succeeds former head Lim Byungdae, who stepped down at the end of last year.
Hwang, the new head, is a founding member of the LG Washington office, which was established in 2022, and has been handling external affairs in the United States.
Jo Hagin, who previously served as co-head of the office, has transitioned to an advisory role and will support operations from behind the scenes. He served as the White House Deputy Chief of Staff during the first Trump administration.
In addition, LG Group has strengthened its team by recruiting Je Hyunjung, who previously served as the head of the Washington office of the Korea International Trade Association.
