Gokseong County to Eliminate Welfare Blind Spots for At-Risk Households
Special Investigation of Low-Income Households Until June
Gokseong County in Jeonnam Province (Governor Jo Sangrae) announced on the 15th that it will conduct a special investigation in the first half of the year for recipients of emergency welfare support, targeting households in crisis who have difficulty maintaining their livelihood due to unemployment, illness, and other reasons, until June.
This investigation aims to identify low-income households in crisis who continue to face financial hardship despite receiving temporary emergency welfare support, and to connect them with additional support and welfare services as needed.
Between February and March of this year, the county visited 4,617 households in crisis?identified using the Haengbok-eum system?and provided welfare services to a total of 3,223 individuals through comprehensive on-site surveys for each household.
The county plans to verify the income, assets, and financial status of recipients through the Haengbok-eum system, and then provide practical assistance by linking public benefits such as emergency welfare support, the Basic Livelihood Security Program, and the second-lowest income bracket, as well as private resources, through visits and consultations. Through this special investigation, it is expected that more households in crisis will receive practical help and welfare blind spots will be reduced.
The county also plans to conduct a special investigation for emergency welfare support recipients in the second half of the year, doing its utmost to identify more households in crisis.
A county official said, "We are cooperating with various welfare resources to ensure that households struggling with financial difficulties and hardships receive the support they need in a timely manner," and added, "If additional support related to emergency welfare is needed, we ask for active participation and reporting from residents."
