Dongjak-gu Without Large Supermarkets, Promotes Entry of Emart and Other 'Large-Scale Stores'
Promise of Administrative Support Including Permits Through MOU
Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) has partnered with E-Mart Co., Ltd. to promote the entry of large-scale stores in the district, which currently lacks large supermarkets. On the 14th, the district announced on the 15th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with E-Mart at Dongjak-gu Office for the 'Dongjak-gu Compact City Development.'

View original imageAccording to the agreement, E-Mart will explore plans to open large-scale complex distribution centers and other stores in connection with development projects throughout Dongjak-gu, while the district plans to provide administrative support such as permits once the store openings become tangible.
The district expects that the inconvenience experienced by residents due to the lack of large supermarkets in the area will be resolved and shopping convenience will improve. About 10 officials from both sides, including Mayor Park Il-ha and Wi Soo-yeon, Head of E-Mart's Development Innovation Headquarters, attended the signing ceremony.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, "We will make it possible for residents to handle housing, commerce, shopping, and cultural activities all within Dongjak-gu without needing to travel far," adding, "We will continue to do our best to enhance residents' convenience and promote sustainable urban development."
