Sinkhole on Road in Front of Aeogae Station... Seoul Also Hit by Strong Winds
A sinkhole measuring 40 cm in diameter and 1.3 m deep occurred on the road in front of Aeogae Station on Seoul Subway Line 5 in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
According to the Mapo Police Station on the 13th, a report was received around 8:50 a.m. that the road near Aeogae Station had collapsed.
The Seoul Western Road Office completed temporary repairs at the accident site and announced that vehicle traffic on all lanes resumed around 5 p.m.
An official from the office stated, "It is presumed that the sinkhole occurred due to cracks in the aging sewer pipes causing water leakage."
Strong winds and rain on the day caused damage in Seoul as well.

At an apartment in Yeomni-dong, Mapo-gu, roofing exterior materials and the rooftop ventilation exhaust plate were blown off by the strong wind. No casualties were reported.
