US Treasury: "No Unusual Activity" Amid Stock Market Plunge
Trump Responds to Market Situation Question:
"I Haven't Seen It"
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said there is "nothing unusual" about the U.S. stock market plunging again despite the 90-day suspension of reciprocal tariffs with countries other than China.
At a White House cabinet meeting chaired by President Donald Trump on the 10th (local time), Secretary Besant stated, "Today's inflation figures were good and oil prices fell. We have a successful bond market."
Regarding negotiations on reciprocal tariffs with other countries, Secretary Besant said, "These countries will come to us with their best offers," adding, "We will be in a very certain position within the next 90 days."
When asked about the stock market's renewed sharp decline, President Trump responded, "I haven't seen it because I've been here for two and a half hours."
