Promoting Community Change Through Everyday Idea Projects, Intergenerational Communication, and Local Food Content

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) announced on the 10th that with the selection of participants for the resident-led 'Resident Proposal Project,' a variety of community content will be implemented throughout Busan.

Through this call for proposals, a total of 34 communities were selected, including the 'Happiness Plus Resident Proposal Project' (24 sites) and the 'Community Living Area Revitalization Resident Proposal Project' (10 sites). Each selected group will receive up to 5 million KRW in project funding.

Notably, this year’s selected ideas originated from residents’ daily lives. Standout programs include becoming a small urban farmer by utilizing rooftop gardens, and participating in hands-on health programs that give new life to old cutting boards.

Other resident-led content to be implemented across the city includes activities such as sharing side dishes with seniors, senior Korean language classes and other programs connecting generations and neighbors, family experience programs, and community storytelling projects that record everyday life.

BMC held project briefings and on-site training for the selected communities, providing guidance on operational procedures and accounting methods for the overall project.

Additionally, BMC plans to finalize agreements with the communities on the 10th and provide support for the projects based on each community’s implementation plan until September 30. Detailed information about the selection process for the proposal project can be found on the Busan Metropolitan Corporation Urban Regeneration Support Center website.

Shin Changho, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "This proposal project is a process in which ideas planned directly by residents in their daily lives lead to real change," and added, "We will continue to provide support so that we can create vitality in the region together with residents."
