Chungnam Province Uncovers 20 Cases of Fugitive Dust Violations at Business Sites
11 Cases of Inadequate Management of Dust-Proof Nets and Storage Material Covers
Chungnam Province announced on the 7th that it had conducted a joint inspection from the 5th to the 26th of last month on 239 businesses generating fugitive dust, uncovering 20 violations.
The joint inspection team, consisting of 61 members including special judicial police officers from the province, cities, and counties, as well as 16 teams from city and county environmental departments, identified violations at large construction sites and businesses with frequent fugitive dust complaints. These included: ▲ 1 case of unreported fugitive dust-generating business ▲ 11 cases of inadequate management of dust-proof nets and storage material covers ▲ 5 cases of failure to report changes in fugitive dust-generating business ▲ 3 cases of facilities not meeting fugitive dust suppression standards.
For minor violations, the province will issue on-site guidance, while administrative actions and criminal charges will be taken against businesses that failed to report fugitive dust generation.
Yoon Taeno, head of the Provincial Social Disaster Division, stated, "We will prevent the occurrence of fugitive dust through joint inspections timed with periods of high fine dust concentrations."
