Gwangju Office of Education Promotes 'Life∞Knowledge' Thematic Education
Fostering Historical Sensitivity
Through Customized Commemorative Day Activities
The Gwangju Office of Education announced on the 3rd that it has developed and distributed ‘Life∞Knowledge Thematic Education’ materials to elementary, middle, and high schools so that students can naturally learn the meaning of national holidays and commemorative days in their daily lives.
These materials were created with the intention of encouraging students to practice patriotism in their ‘lives’ and to foster historical awareness through ‘knowledge.’ Field teachers and experts participated in the editing and review process, actively reflecting the needs of schools.

Through these classes, students will engage in various experience-based activities such as ‘Decoding the Liberation Army Cipher Table,’ ‘Establishing a Constitution for Our Class,’ and ‘Creating a History Newspaper.’ The city’s Office of Education has uploaded the related materials to the Democracy and Human Rights Education Center’s resource site (website) for easy access by teachers.
Superintendent Lee Jungseon stated, “We will operate thematic education in a meaningful way so that students can reflect on the significance of national holidays and commemorative days, and develop a sense of democracy and peace,” adding, “We will support the implementation of history education in daily life.”
