Prime Minister and Acting President Han Duck-soo held an 'Emergency Economic Security Strategy Task Force (TF) Meeting' on the 3rd immediately after the United States announced reciprocal tariffs to discuss countermeasures.

View original imageThe meeting was arranged to discuss the South Korean government's response plan as quickly as possible right after the U.S. announced reciprocal tariffs.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump officially announced at 4 p.m. local time on the 2nd at the White House that a 25% reciprocal tariff would be imposed on products produced in Korea and imported into the United States.
Tariff rates for major countries were also disclosed: China 34%, European Union (EU) 20%, Vietnam 46%, Taiwan 32%, Japan 24%, and India 26%.
President Trump announced the policy of imposing such reciprocal tariffs and signed the related executive order during a speech at the White House Rose Garden.
This announcement is expected to mark the full-scale start of the 'Trump tariff-induced trade war.'
On the 1st, Acting President Han held the first Economic Security Strategy TF meeting at the Prime Minister's official residence in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, attended by Samsung Group Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, and LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo.
