Cheonan City Scales Down Bukmyeon Wirye Cherry Blossom Festival Due to Wildfire Concerns
Scale Down of Performances and Operation of Fundraising Booths to Support Affected Residents
Cheonan City in Chungnam Province will scale down the 10th Bukmyeon Wirye Cherry Blossom Festival, scheduled for April 5th to 6th, due to the nationwide wildfire damage.
The city will reduce the originally planned pre-ceremony performances, opening ceremony, and guest singer performances, and will hold a moment of remembrance for wildfire victims during the opening event.
Additionally, the city plans to operate a fundraising booth for residents affected by the wildfire, and the donations will be delivered after the festival concludes.
Jin Sugon, head of the festival organizing committee, stated, "I believe it is our duty to share in the pain of the people who have suffered great losses from these unprecedented large-scale wildfires," and added, "We will proceed in a calm atmosphere, offering comfort to the victims of the wildfires."
