Mayor Park Dongsik Conducts On-Site Safety Inspections for Summer Disaster Preparedness
Park Dongsik, the mayor of Sacheon City in Gyeongnam, conducted an inspection of areas at risk of casualties on the 1st of this month to ensure on-site safety during the thawing period and to prepare for natural disasters in the summer.
Mayor Park, accompanied by officials from the Disaster Safety Division, related public officials, and experts, visited four locations including flood-prone areas, hazardous reservoirs, and large-scale construction sites, where there is a high possibility of casualties due to thawing season, heavy rainfall during the monsoon, and typhoons. He thoroughly inspected the disaster response measures for each stage and the on-site management status.

Meanwhile, Sacheon City organized a joint investigation team of 30 members from 8 departments and conducted a comprehensive survey of areas at risk of casualties in preparation for heavy rainfall and typhoons from February 25 to March 10.
This joint inspection covered 111 sites at risk of casualties, such as landslide-prone areas, steep slopes, hazardous reservoirs, natural disaster risk improvement zones, and small-scale hazardous facilities. For the 30 sites where residents live, evacuation plans were established, and the presence of disaster warning signs, cracks, collapses, or loss of facilities, as well as the cleanliness of drainage channels and catch basins, were checked to ensure preventive measures were in place.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "As the frequency of heavy rainfall and typhoons is increasing due to recent abnormal weather patterns, we will do our utmost to prevent summer natural disaster damage through thorough preemptive measures," adding, "We will make every effort to prevent casualties in the summer by quickly controlling high-risk areas and evacuating residents in advance."
