Daegu Technical High School Celebrates 100th Anniversary, Producing 56,000 Graduates
Daegu Technical High School (Principal: Kang Cheolhyeon) held its 100th anniversary ceremony at 10 a.m. on the 1st in the school auditorium (Okjeogwan) and Okjeo Park. This ceremony commemorated the century-long history and achievements of technical education at Daegu Technical High School and declared its vision to nurture future technical talents who will lead the industrial society of tomorrow.
The ceremony was attended by Kang Eunhee, Superintendent of Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education; Park Soyoung, Chairperson of the Education Committee of Daegu Metropolitan Council; Bae Byeongil, President of Korea Student Aid Foundation; Lee Jaeyong, President of Yeungnam University College; as well as key figures in education, Noh Heechan, Chairperson of the 100th Anniversary Project Committee; Yoon Seokdong, President of the Daegu Technical High School Alumni Association; Baek Sejae, President of the Alumni Scholarship Foundation; over 100 alumni; and more than 600 faculty, staff, parents, and students.
The ceremony began with a pre-event performance by the vocal team 'Alberobello,' followed by commemorative speeches, congratulatory addresses, scholarship awards, presentation of plaques of appreciation, students' future vision declaration, and the singing of the school song. In particular, the '100-Year Future Vision Declaration' by three student representatives presented the future direction and blueprint for Daegu Technical High School. Additionally, a commemorative monument unveiling and tree planting ceremony were held in Okjeo Park, deeply marking the significance of the centennial.
Meanwhile, Daegu Technical High School, founded in 1925 with the mission of 'Reviving the Nation through Technology,' has established itself as a center of technical education by achieving outstanding results in national skills competitions. The school has also enhanced its reputation through achievements in various fields such as soccer, kendo, and wind music competitions.
Furthermore, through various employment support projects such as the Industry-Academia Integrated Apprenticeship School, Small and Medium Business Workforce Development Project, Military Specialized High School Support Project, and the Specialized High School Future Competency Enhancement Project, the school has strengthened practical education and produced a total of over 56,000 graduates, contributing to nurturing key personnel in the industrial field.
Principal Kang Cheolhyeon stated, "The 100 years of Daegu Technical High School have been built solely on a passion for technology and education," and added, "We will continue to do our best to nurture talents who will lead the future industry under the school motto of 'Sincerity' and 'Creativity.' As a central school for vocational education in partnership with the local community, our entire educational community will work together so that our students can move forward into society with pride."
