View original imageGwangju City announced on the 1st that it will conduct joint public-private inspections and guidance for about 20 facilities that emit environmental pollutants.
This joint inspection, which will be carried out over two days until the 2nd, will organize three inspection teams composed of responsible public officials and civilian environmental experts, focusing on checking the management status of air and water pollutant emissions.
The main inspection items include: ▲ whether unauthorized (unreported) emission facilities are installed or operated ▲ proper management of emission and prevention facilities ▲ proper implementation of regular self-measurements ▲ compliance with emission standards, and more.
For facilities found to be in violation, administrative measures will be taken in accordance with relevant environmental conservation laws, and the disposition will be disclosed on the Gwangju City website. In addition, technical support will be provided to facilities that lack environmental management expertise.
The city conducts joint public-private inspections of pollutant-emitting facilities every year. In last year's inspection, violations were found at 16 facilities, resulting in administrative actions.
Kim Osuk, head of the Environmental Conservation Division, said, "By making public the management status and inspection process of these facilities through joint public-private inspections, we will enhance trust in environmental administration and do our utmost to create a pleasant urban environment through thorough management of emission facilities."
