Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) has recently provided daily necessities and relief supplies to the victims in the Sancheong area, which suffered severe damage due to simultaneous wildfires in the Gyeongsang region.
Sancheong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, was one of the initial areas where the large wildfire started. On the 30th, all main fires in the Sancheong area were extinguished, and the situation has now shifted to a smoldering fire extinguishing system. The wildfire-affected area in Sancheong totals 1,158 hectares, and 582 Sancheong residents were evacuated.
The district, together with the Gwanak-gu Integrated Defense Council, prepared daily necessities such as clothing, socks, and ramen, as well as relief supplies including fire-resistant masks, blankets, and tents, as requested by Sancheong-gun. On the 31st, Gwanak-gu office employees personally visited the relief supply storage center in Sicheon-myeon, Sancheong-gun, delivering the supplies and offering words of comfort to the Sancheong residents.
Meanwhile, the district informed employees affected by the wildfire about the ‘Disaster Relief Leave.’ In cases where the employee, their spouse, parents of the employee or spouse, or children suffer damage to life or property due to the wildfire, they may take up to five days of leave.
Additionally, starting today, district office employees will voluntarily collect donations for four days to participate in the recovery efforts for the Sancheong area. The collected donations will be delivered to Sancheong-gun on the 8th through the Community Chest of Korea.
