Partial Production Shift in Baoshan Area
Taiwan's TSMC, the world's largest semiconductor foundry, plans to switch its semiconductor production process deployment in Taiwan from 2-nanometer (nm) to 1.4-nanometer, according to Taiwan media such as United Daily News on the 31st.
According to sources, TSMC recently informed its supply chain partners to prepare equipment necessary for the 1.4-nanometer process.
The source stated that TSMC plans to first install a pilot production line this year at the Baoshan Plant 2 in the Hsinchu Science Park in northern Taiwan, and that some of the production facilities in the Baoshan area, originally intended for the 2-nanometer process, will be converted to the 1.4-nanometer process.
