Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju and club owner, Kim Jeong-yeol, the new chairman of Paju Citizen Football Club, members of the Paju City Council, various dignitaries, and about 2,000 citizens attended, filling the stadium with enthusiastic support.
Before and after the match, various participatory events such as event booths, prize draws, and food trucks were held, adding to the festive atmosphere. However, the scheduled celebratory performance was canceled in consideration of the recent large-scale wildfires in the country.
Sponsored by LG Display and Inbon Hospital, the prize draw event offered small home appliances, bicycles, and other prizes, receiving positive responses from attendees. The first prize, a 65-inch TV sponsored by LG Display, was awarded through the draw.
During the match, Paju Citizen Football Club demonstrated aggressive offensive play and solid defensive organization throughout both halves, scoring 4 goals in front of the home crowd to achieve a 4-0 victory. The passionate cheers from the fully packed stands served as a driving force that boosted the players’ fighting spirit and concentration.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju stated, “Today’s opening match with the citizens marked a new leap forward for Paju Citizen Football Club,” adding, “This year, we will steadily build the foundation not just for results but for advancing to the K League 2 (professional second division) next year.”
