Enhancing the Capabilities of Elder Care Workers
in Response to a Super-Aged Society
The Gyeongbuk Gimcheon City Home-based Long-term Care Association conducted an elder abuse prevention and human rights education session for over 500 directors of local long-term care institutions and social workers on the 28th at the Yulgok Hall of Gimcheon City Yulgok Library.
Capacity-building training is being conducted for long-term care facility workers.
View original imageThis training was organized to enhance the human rights sensitivity of long-term care workers, who play a pivotal role in elder care in a super-aged society, and to strengthen their prevention capabilities.
The education was carried out through a customized program, emphasizing the importance of elder abuse prevention and protection by focusing on various cases of human rights violations.
The training was held in two sessions, morning and afternoon. In the morning, Professor Yeom Geonryeong, Director of the Korea Institute of Criminology, introduced real-life cases of elder abuse prevention and led an in-depth discussion on situations that long-term care workers may encounter.
In the afternoon, Hong Seongnam, Director of the Western Gyeongsangbuk-do Elder Protection Agency, shared various cases of elder abuse with care workers, explained the importance of elder dignity, and fostered empathy for human rights sensitivity among the participants.
The head of the Gimcheon City Department of Social Welfare stated, "Through this training, long-term care workers will further strengthen their awareness of elder abuse prevention and work to create a safe and trusted care environment," adding, "We will continue our efforts to provide better care services to citizens."
Starting with this training, the city plans to further strengthen its efforts to prevent elder abuse and improve human rights, aiming to establish a safe and high-quality care environment in the local community.
