Hanam-si Provides 100,000 Won 'Hamoney' Support to Elderly Drivers Returning Their Driver's Licenses
Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 26th that it will provide 100,000 won worth of Hanam local currency, ‘Hamoney,’ to elderly drivers who voluntarily surrender their driver's licenses.
This project was promoted to encourage voluntary surrender of driver's licenses among the elderly, promote the use of public transportation, and prevent traffic accidents.
The support target is license holders aged 65 or older residing in Hanam City. They can apply after visiting the administrative welfare center or police station in their residential jurisdiction to surrender their driver's license, and once the application is completed, 100,000 won worth of Hamoney will be provided once.
If applying at the administrative welfare center, the Hamoney can be received directly at the center, and if surrendered through the police station, it can be received by registered mail or by visiting the Hanam City Transportation Policy Division.
In addition, Hanam City plans to implement the ‘Senior Public Transportation Fare Support Project’ starting in April, providing up to 40,000 won per quarter and up to 160,000 won annually in transportation expenses to seniors aged 70 or older using metropolitan, city, and village buses within the city.
